Hybrid MPC

The problem. Cement and mineral processing

consist of many interacting variables in concurrent processes, many  ill-understood, and which comprise of complex dynamics. In addition, such plants (cement) have inaccurate, noisy, and badly behaved instrumentation, as well as  problematic actuators, with, for example, hysteresis and quantization errors. 

 

General Solution. MPC is an extremely powerful control solution and works well with such multivariate-processes. However, MPC is typically extremely difficult to understnad, and to deploy and requires experts to develop and deploy. In addition, MPC can be highly sensitive to noise, inaccurate models and other issues found in the real world.

Optin has developed a hybrid MPC technology where the deployment is relatively easy and quick. Powerful functionality such as adaptive online signal processing ensures that the controllers are extremely robust especially in the presence of model mismatch and problematic instrumentation.

Cement - Our optimal control system and their deployments are suited for highly difficult cement processing, where the measurements are noisy, processes highly non-linear, and difficult to define.
