Material flow can be measured in real-time using Optin's patented Stream Velocity Measurement instrument (SVM).

​

SVM is based on image processing, where a video camera is used to pick up images of a material stream. The video is then processed to derive the "average" flow of the material stream.

​

The stream can be anything from solids to liquids and multi-phase flows. This includes for example

​

• Liquid metal pouring out a ladle or furnace

• slurry flow in a metallurgical plant or sewerage plant

• Rock flows out of silos, vibrating feeders

• Material flows on a conveyor
